How Much Luggage Fits? Choosing the Right Car for Your Airport Transfer

Suitcases, a backpack and holdalls lined up ready for a trip

Will it all fit? It's one of the most important things to settle before an airport or cruise transfer. Three people, four big cases and a pushchair can fill a boot faster than you'd think. Here is a plain guide to what fits in each of the vehicles we use, and what to tell us so the right car turns up.

What fits in each vehicle

VehiclePassengersLuggage
Saloon (Skoda Superb)up to 43 large cases
Family SUV (Skoda Kodiaq)up to 4room for extra luggage, buggies and bulky bags
Estate (Volvo V90)up to 4a large estate boot for extra luggage
Multiseater (MPV)up to 8room for the group's luggage alongside passengers

For multiseater bookings and some larger groups, we work with trusted partner drivers so that everyone travels together. You can see every vehicle on our fleet page.

What counts as a large case?

When we say a saloon takes 3 large cases, we mean full-size suitcases of the kind you check into the hold. Smaller bags can often fit alongside them, but if a group of four each has a large case and a cabin bag, tell us: that's more than a saloon is designed to carry.

Tell us about anything bulky

Some items take far more room than their weight suggests. Please mention any of these when you book:

  • Pushchairs, travel cots and car seats you're bringing yourself
  • Golf bags, ski or snowboard bags and bike boxes
  • Extra-large or unusually shaped cases
  • Mobility aids such as a folding wheelchair or walking frame

We'll then allocate a vehicle that suits. Child seats are free on request, but remember that they take up space too.

Why it matters to get it right

The fixed price covers the journey as booked, including the number of passengers and the luggage you've told us about. If far more turns up on the day than was booked, we may not be able to carry everyone or everything safely, and a change of vehicle or an additional charge could be needed. An accurate description when you book avoids all of that.

Some typical examples

  • A couple with two large cases and two cabin bags: a saloon is plenty.
  • A family of four with four large cases and a pushchair: that's more than a saloon takes, so tell us and we'll arrange the SUV, the estate or a multiseater.
  • Six friends heading for a cruise: a multiseater, which carries up to 8 passengers with room for luggage.

What it costs

Prices are per vehicle, not per person. Choose the saloon price for 1 to 4 travellers and the multiseater price for larger groups. Heathrow, for example, is £150 or £200 from Salisbury, and Southampton Airport is £70 or £90. You'll find every fixed fare on our prices page, or get an exact figure with the online quote. If you're not sure which car you need, call or WhatsApp us on 07880 167302 and we'll recommend one.
