Christmas and New Year Airport Transfers from Salisbury: Booking Tips
Christmas and New Year are a popular time to fly, whether you're heading for winter sun, the ski slopes or family abroad. They're also the time of year when roads, weather and flight schedules are least predictable. A little planning goes a long way, so here is what we'd suggest.
Book as early as you can
Many families travel as soon as the schools break up, so the first days of the holidays are in high demand. Check your school's own term dates, as academies can differ from the council calendar, and book your transfer as soon as your flights are confirmed. Our service runs all year round, but we're a small, family-run firm, so booking early gives you the best chance of getting the time you want.
Your price is fixed when you book
Every fare is agreed before you travel and doesn't change because of traffic or a slow journey. From Salisbury, Heathrow is £150 in a saloon, Gatwick £190, Bristol Airport £130, and Southampton or Bournemouth Airport £70. Book your return at the same time and we take 10% off the return leg. All our fixed fares are on the prices page.
Allow extra time on winter roads
Fog, frost and heavy rain are all common on winter mornings, and festive traffic can make the main routes to London and the airports busier than usual. Drive times are always estimates, so when you book we'll suggest a pick-up time with a sensible margin. For an early flight in December or January, it's worth allowing a little more than you would in summer.
Packing for Christmas: tell us about the extras
Christmas trips often mean more luggage than usual: presents, winter coats and, for some, ski or snowboard bags. A saloon takes up to 4 passengers with 3 large cases, so if you're carrying more, let us know when you book and we'll arrange a vehicle with more room. Our luggage guide explains what fits where.
Coming home: delays and winter weather
Winter weather can hold up flights, which is why we track your flight and adjust your collection to your actual arrival time. Once you land, we allow 60 minutes of complimentary waiting for passport control and baggage reclaim. Our guide to delayed and cancelled flights covers what happens in each case.
